Is it safe to remove my program files from my hard drive internal?
I recently bought an external hard drive and everything I moved to my internal drive. Now, I wonder if it is safe to delete the program files now that the safeguards have been made and will they work properly (from the external drive) once deleted?
I'd advise against running programs from an external HD (unless you plan to never remove it.) If you do, the installation in the new location * name * so that the registry and program locations are properly updated, then use a tool like TweakUI to make the Program Files location on your new HD * real * OS related Program Files folder, then you can delete everything that is * not * from Microsoft's "old" folder … The Program Files folder is a file system, and some MS programs will start to use it as soon as Windows is installed – the removal of any it may have some undesirable consequences …
