Portable hard drive to IDE adapter, plugged the cord in reverse?

have a laptop IDE HDD adapter and accidentally plugged the power cord to reverse. It corrupted master of my office hard drive and does not start XP, but I was able to run CHKDSK on another machine and solve the problem. However, my laptop hard drive can not be increasingly recognized in both machines. Is there something I can do to solve this problem?

Weird. I plugged these things in reverse before and nothing happened. Maybe yours is broken. Be careful. I had one before catching fire. (I did something stupid at the time. This does not happen during normal use … in general.) Make sure the adapter when power is on the left when you look drive with the label side up and the circuit board down. There may be a triangle or an arrow on the side at the top right of the connector or 1. When its plugged in, there will be a group of 4 pins on the right. The power is on the opposite side. When you attach the IDE cable, you should see the band red nearest the connector cable. When you connect and turn on the PC, you should hear the drive spin up. Your card may have an indicator light drive him. When you enter Windows, check under disk management. Right click on My Computer, Manage, Disk Management You should see her there. If no partition, then you need to use a 3rd party utility to get the files back. Or you can just create the partition and format it as you like, if you do not care about Lost files. If there is a partition, you may have to assign a drive letter. If this does not work, you may run CHKDSK on it and see what happens. Or delete the partition and create a new one. Another thing. This will be the master drive by default. You could just disconnect the CD-ROM, and then reconnect it. I think the 4 Extra Pins can put a slave with a jumper, but I do not know.
